Cuttack: Fighting all social stereotypes and standing tall against judgments, a transgender named Sital filed her nomination papers as an independent candidate for the upcoming Assembly polls from Cuttack-Barabati constituency here today.

She submitted her nomination papers with Cuttack Sub-Collector-cum-Returning Officer in presence of her transgender supporters and other community members. She said, "I have been working with the people of Barabati for over a year now. They know me and I am deeply connected to the area."

"I wanted to dedicate myself for the service of the community and thus I decided to fight all stereotypes and injustice. I cannot believe that I have reached this platform despite of all the hurdles. I know that my war is not over yet and there is a long way to go," she said.

Sital is not alone. She has been getting support from her community, the slum-dwellers and even from media personnel. The people supporting her proudly said, "More power to Sital."
