Ganjam: Seven months after body of a lady doctor was recovered from Chhatrapur railway track in Ganjam district, her husband surrendered before Chhatrapur SDJM Court on Saturday.

Reportedly, doctor Archana Das of Pattapur village after suffering from depression had separated from her husband, Anjan Das, and was living with her parents.

It was on morning of August 17, 2018, her body was found on a railway track in Chhatrapur area. Though exact reason of her death had not been ascertained, her in-laws had secured an anticipatory bail from the Orissa High Court.

Anjan today surrendered before SDJM Jaya Prakash Nayak, who rejected his bail plea and subsequently he was sent to Sub Jail, Chhatrapur. However, challenging the trail court's decision, Anjan moved the Additional District and Sessions Court. The hearing on his appeal will be held on March 20, 2019.

It is worthwhile to mention that, a case under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Dowry Prohibition Act have been registered against Anjan, his parents, brother and brother's wife on charges of mental and physical harrassment and abetment of suicide of Archana.

Anjan was absconding from the day of the incident and only after his anticipatory bail plea was rejected by the Orissa High Court and he was ordered to surrender, he deposed before the court today.
