Korukonda CHC Exemplifies ‘Mo Sarkar’ Implementation In Healthcare At Mao-Infested Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Neat, lush green surroundings, herbal garden, yoga classes, hygienic wards with an array of doctors and hospital staff- the picture is not of a posh private hospital but of a community health centre (CHC) based at Korukonda, a tiny town of Malkangiri district.

Painting the accurate picture Mo Sarkar programme’s implementation, Korukonda CHC shows what wonders an optimal implementation can do.

The CHC’s building is surrounded with greenery with a special section for herbal plants. The surrounding is always kept neat and clean and the hygiene standards inside the hospital are top-notch. With free medicine and free consultation and treatment- what else can a patient need.

On top of all this, the Korukonda CHC also conducts free yoga classes early in the morning. Not just patients, but also hospital staff actively takes part in this morning routine.

The health centre’s campus is also fitted with CCTVs for additional security. Staff members keep an eye on it 24/7.

CHC’s administration is also known to conduct frequent health awareness programmes. On top of this, the TV’s installed inside the campus also broadcast televised awareness programmes.

In this tribal-dominated area, where locals have been known to prefer quacks to doctors, the facilities offered at the Koukonda CHC throw enlighten the dark corners of superstition.

Previously they had to travel to far-off hospitals to bigger cities within the districts or even outside the district, and some even to nearby states. However, when provided with high-class facilities in their vicinity, reports suggest that denizens are happily opting for Korukonda CHC.

The 5T charter under the people-friendly Mo Sarkar in the health care sector was implemented on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Since then a sea change was induced in hospitals across the State.

Under ‘Mo Sarkar’ the State Government will collect feedback on the behaviour and professionalism of doctors and Government officers. All of these government officers will then be graded on the basis of feedback received from people.

The program has brought effective and efficient government closer to people, it vows to serve.
