Know Security Measures Taken For New Year Celebrations In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: With the city denizens eagerly waiting for the Zero Night celebrations, the Commissionerate Police has enhanced security arrangements across Bhubaneswar. Along with 11 motor-vehicle checkpoints at more than 11 places, adequate amount of police force will also be deployed at various places in the city, informed DCP Anup Kumar Sahoo today.

Briefing media persons today, Sahoo said the checkpoints will mainly keep an eye on drunk driving. Besides, as there will be more crowds in the midnight, extra five patrolling vehicles will be introduced to ensure security of the citizens.

The DCP further informed that more than 40 places have been issued license for New Year celebrations. Police will also keep an eye on use of loudspeaker and display of fireworks within the permissible time limit. As per the recent Supreme Court guidelines fireworks can be displayed within 11:15 PM and 12:30 AM.

"We hope everyone celebrates New Year in a responsible, safe and secured manner," Sahoo added.
