Puri: With the final solar eclipse (Surya Parag) of 2019 to occur on December 26, 2019, here is the revised schedule of rituals at Lord Jagannath Temple in Puri as informed by Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) Krishan Kumar on Wednesday.
As per tradition, the rituals will be stopped at 8.20 PM on December 25, 2019, that is 12 hours before the next day’s sunrise. The rituals would begin as usual at 8.20 AM on December 26, 2019, after the eclipse with the Maha Snana of the deities.
With no rituals to be conducted in the temple, it will remain open for darshan of the deities from December 25 (Wednesday) evening till December 26 (Thursday) morning. Puri Collector and Superintendent of Police will be supervising the arrangements for smooth darshan, said Kumar.
Talking about the revised timings for New Year, the SJTA Chief informed that the 'Pahuda' or the closing of the temple door after the final ritual is over will be done at 11 PM on December 31, 2019, and it will be again opened for darshan of the deities at 2 AM on January 1, 2020.
Kumar further informed that the final decision in this regard will be taken in Shree Jagannath Temple Managing Committee's meeting to be held on December 20, 2019.
