Bhubaneswar: With some old and some new faces in the Council of Ministers of Naveen Patnaik government making it a mixed bag, some former ministers were able to secure the mandate in their respective constituencies but did not get a cabinet berth.

Former minister Ananta Das, who has been elected as the MLA from Bhogarai, said there is no junior or senior in the party and the persons deemed suitable by the Chief Minister have been allotted portfolios. It is a very difficult task as all cannot be satisfied, he added.

There is a reason behind allotting portfolios to young people as they will emerge as big leaders in future. How they will learn if not given the responsibility, said Das.

Former minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, who has been elected as the MLA from Kendrapara, said the decision of allotting portfolios lies with the party supremo. It has been proved that the decision taken by the Chief Minister has always been fruitful.

People of Kendrapara are politically conscious enough to understand the decision and support the State Government and Naveen Patnaik. It is the responsibility of the representatives to work for the development of Kendrapara, he added.

Former minister Surya Narayan Patro, said he has been elected as the MLA from Digapahandi and is not concerned about not getting a berth in the new cabinet.
