Know How Many Crorepatis Are In Fray For Third Phase Polls In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) published the report of candidates contesting in Phase-III polls here today. A total of 60 Lok Sabha candidates have been analysed for six seats-Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Puri and Sambalpur.

Candidates with Criminal Cases: Out of 60 candidates analyzed, 15(25%) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves. (BJD-1, BJP-4, Congress- 2)

Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 10(17%) candidates have declared serious criminal cases against themselves. (BJD-0, BJP-2, Congress- 1)

Crorepati Candidates: Out of the 60 candidates,16 (27%) candidates have assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore. (BJD- 5, Congress- 3, BJP- 3)

Lok Sabha candidate with highest amount of assets is BJD’s Pinaki Mishra for Puri seat. He owns assets worth Rs 117 crore. He is followed by Nitesh Ganga Deb, BJP’s Sambalpur candidate, who owns assets worth Rs 26 crore. Then comes, Congress’ Dhenkanal candidate KP Singh Deo with Rs 15 crore worth of assets.

The candidate with lowest amount of assets is Ranjan Kumar Mishra of CPI (ML), contesting from Puri, with Rs 1,000 only.

Coming to the Odisha Assembly polls in third phase, 354 candidates were analysed and the following data was found:

Candidates with Criminal Cases: Out of 354 candidates analyzed, 119 (34%) candidates have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: 101(29%) have declared serious criminal cases against themselves.

Party wise Candidates with Criminal Cases: Among the major parties, 20(48%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJD, 30(71%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJP, 19 (46%) out of 41 candidates analysed from INC, and 5 (17%) out of 30 candidates analysed from BSP have declared criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

Party wise Candidates with Serious Criminal Cases: Among the major parties, 13(31%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJD, 25(60%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJP, 18(44%) out of 41 candidates analysed from INC, and 5(17%) out of 30 candidates analysed from BSP have declared serious criminal cases against themselves in their affidavits.

Crorepati Candidates: Out of the 354 candidates, 103(29%) are crorepatis.

Party wise Crorepati Candidates: Among the major parties 31(74%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJD, 24(57%) out of 42 candidates analysed from BJP, 23(56%) out of 41 candidates analysed from INC, 3(10%) out of 30 candidates analysed from BSP, and 2(40%) out of 5 candidates from AAP have declared assets worth more than Rs. 1 crore.

Assembly candidate with highest amount of assets is Congress’ Bobby Mohanty for Baramba seat. He owns assets worth Rs 106 crore. He is followed by Niranjan Patnaik, Congress’ Ghasipura candidate, who owns assets worth Rs 60 crore.

Rashtriya Indepndent Morcha’s Joginath Sahoo contesting from Banki seat is the candidate with lowest amount of assets  worth Rs 300.
