Puri: A minor girl allegedly kidnapped from a short stay home in May 2018 was rescued by police in front of an examination centre in Puri, where she was appearing for the annual HSC exam, on Friday.

Reportedly, a minor boy and his parents had abducted the girl from Penthakota and a complaint case in this regard had been filed at the Puri SDJM court. Following it, police had launched a search operation.

On getting information that the girl is appearing matriculation exam at a particular centre, a police team in civil dresses waited before the centre and rescued her when she came out after completing her examination.

Puri City DSP Sudhakar Sahoo said, "A case had been filed at the court stating the girl was missing. When police came to know that she is appearing for the matriculation examination she was rescued and will be produced before court and her statement will be recorded to know the truth."
