Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anup Kumar Sahoo today claimed that medical examination of the young woman in the alleged Khurda car gang rape case shows no evidence of rape.

Sahoo made the statement on the basis of the medical examination report of the woman received by the Twin City Commissionerate Police from the District Headquarters Hospital, Khurda.

Following the receipt of the medical examination report denying rape to have been committed, the police have released the accused from detention.

A young woman was found abandoned on National Highway 16 in Khurda on Wednesday. The woman who was unconscious was spotted by locals who had alerted the police.

The woman had alleged before the police that she was gang raped inside a car before being dumped on NH 16.

Later, the police had apprehended the accused and had seized the car.
