Khurda BJP Mandal President Murder: 4 Teams Formed, IG (Central Range) To Monitor The Probe

Bhubaneswar: Police has sprung into action after the BJP’s Khurda Mandal President and former Badapokharia Sarpanch Manguli Jena was allegedly shot dead by an unidentified miscreant near Nabina Bag area late on Sunday night.

Informing the media persons on the case, BK Sharma, Odisha DGP-in-charge said, “We have made four teams to nab the culprit. IG (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi will monitor the probe. A team of Crime Branch's Cyber Cell including an Inspector has already initiated investigation. A scientific team is also helping them. Efforts are on to identify and nab the accused.The investigations is in a preliminary stage and we are looking into all aspects.”

IG (Central Range) Soumendra Priyadarshi briefed, "IIC of Model Town team is heading the probe along with 3 more teams. They will conduct raids. Crime Branch's Cyber Cell has will do the technical analysis. Main focus is on sommth and incident-free elections."

He also said that police protection will be given to BJP’s Khurda MLA candidate Kalukhandayat Ray.

Amulya Dash, SP. Khordha further said, “Several places have already been raided but it is yet to be ascertained whether there is involvement of any political party. Strict action will be taken against the accused when nabbed.”

The saffron party called for Khurda bandh today from 8 am to 2 pm. To pacify the protesters, Khordha SP has also assured them that the main accused will be nabbed and brought to justice within five days, before 20th of the month.

The supremo of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) Naveen Patnaik had condemned the murder and had urged the Election Commission to look into the matter with utmost priority and direct the cops to take strict action in order to prevent such incidents from happening again.
