Kendrapara Picnic Tragedy: Odisha CM Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia For Kin Of Deceased

Bhubaneswar: Close on the heels of the picnic tragedy that claimed ten lives, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed deep grief and announced Rs 4 lakh rupees ex-gratia for the kin of the deceased.

The Chief Minister also announced free treatment to the injured in the boat tragedy at Hukitola. Reportedly last night, two persons had been killed after a boat had capsized in Hukitola. The toll rose to ten by today morning as more bodies were recovered.

Reportedly, the mishap occurred when a picnic party of around 55 persons from Hasina village of Jagatsinghpur were returning from Hukitola Lighthouse. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his deep concern over the incident. He had instructed Kendrapara district administration and ODRAF to expedite the rescue operation.
