Kendrapada: Kendrapada Co-Operative society President Pramod Kumar Sahu was sent to jail after his bail plea was rejected by the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court here today.
Sahu was arrested from his residence in Baniamal late in the evening on Sunday. He was arrested following allegations of sexual harassment, rape and murder threat were leveled against him by one of his female colleague.
A Police team led by Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) B Gagarin Mohanty apprehended Sahu at about 11.30 pm yesterday.
Ashish Singh, DIG (Central Range), who is supervising the case spoke to OMMCOM NEWS and confirmed the development. He also said that based on the recorded telephonic conversation the accused was booked under IPC Section 354. He will be forwarded to court soon.
As per reports, the survivor worked under Sahu at Kendrapada Co-Operative society. On the pretext of work, Sahu used to call her and force her to maintain an illicit relationship with him. When the survivor refused he threatened her with murder and rape, alleged the survivor.
She also accused the local Police of inaction as they initially refused to take her complaint back on April 30, 2019. She further alleges that she had to approach the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM); following which the Police registered her case. The survivor said that it took her three months to register the case during which the due process was unnecessarily delayed.
