Bargarh: Upholding his promise of contesting polls from Western Odisha, Chief Minister-cum-Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo Naveen Patnaik filed his nomination papers for Bijepur assembly constituency on Monday.
Before filing the nomination, the CM attended a workers meeting in Padmapur in the district. Patnaik submitted his nomination papers with Padmapur Sub-Collector-cum-Returning Officer in presence of sitting BJD MLA from Bijepur Rita Sahu and two Ministers as well as locals MLAs Sushant Singh and Snehangini Chhuria.
Notably, the BJD supremo had announced that he was set to contest polls simultaneously from his home turf Hinjili as well as Bijepur under western Odisha’s Bargarh parliamentary constituency. On March 20, Patnaik has already filed his nomination paper from Hinjili constituency at Chatrapur Sub-Collector office in Ganjam district in presence of party MPs and MLAs. Naveen Patnaik has submitted an affidavit stating that he owns assets worth over Rs 63.87 crore.
