Phulbani: About 50 students of the Belaghar Ashram High school on Wednesday walked for over 30 km to Dumudibandha Block office in protest against teacher position at their school lying vacant for an elongated period of time.

The students have been demanding for the appointment for some time. They allege that since the Block Education Officer took no action, they decided to protest but in a novel manner.

The students, in an organized and peaceful manner, started their march to the BEO’s office at about 3 am today and sat down in protest at the BEO’s office.

As per last reports, BEO personally came down to chat and make the kids call off their strike. However, the boys were adamant and refused to call off till a concrete promise was made.
