Kandhamal: A group of armed ultras stormed Burdamaha villageof Kandhamal district and killed a man branding him as a ‘police informer’.
Around 7-8 Maoists knocked the doors of Ranjan Digal’s inlaw’s house late on Thursday night. When no one answered them, the broke open the door and dragged Digal out of his house at gunpoint. Then, they shot him dead before dumping his body near Burdamaha UP school.
The outlawed ultras left posters near the body branding him as a police informer and warned every one of similar consequences in case they opt to be police informer. The incident has sparked panic and fear among villagers, sources said.
Notably, Ranjan Digal was a resident of Marduli village under Baliguda police limits in the district. He had gone into hiding in his in-law’s house at Burdamaha village, where his wife Minati Pradhan worked as an Anganwadi worker.
