Kalpana Dash’s Mortal Remains Retrieved

Bhubaneswar: The remains of acclaimed mountaineer Kalpana Dash have been retrieved by the search team which is on its way back to Kathmandu. The body of Dash will be brought to the Lukla base camp today and after completion of formalities, it would be flown to Kathmandu on Wednesday.

Odisha Government's Department of Sports, which is spearheading the mission to bring back Dash's remains to the State today stated that it is in constant touch with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu over the matter.

"The search and rescue team of Sherpas were successful in tracing and bringing back the mortal remains of mountaineer Kalpana Dash to Base Camp 4 today. Tomorrow, following completion of formalities at base camp, Lukla, the body will be flown to Kathmandu," a press release issued by the Department noted.

"State Government is confident that with its constant and aligned efforts with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu and the team of rescuers, it will be successful in its mission to get the body of Lt. Dash back to her family and state," the note added.
