Kalpana Dash's Body To Reach Bhubaneswar Tomorrow

01 June 2019

Bhubaneswar: Mortal remains of Lt. Kalpana Dash, Odisha's first Everester, will leave from New Delhi at about 7 AM on Sunday in Air India flight AI77 which is scheduled to reach Bhubaneswar at 9:05 AM,  said sources.

Arrangements have been made to keep her body at inner circle of the Athletic stadium in Kalinga Stadium complex, from 9:45 AM to 10:45 AM, for public to pay their respects.

Earlier, her body was to reach Bhubaneswar at about 9 PM today and the timing to pay tributes was from 9:30 PM to 10:30 PM. However, the flight from Kathmandu carrying the mortal remains of Dash was delayed, hence, the connecting flight from Delhi to  Bhubaneswar was missed.

Kalpana had breathed her last on May 23 while descending from Everest summit. It took the sherpas and rescue team over a week to retrieve her body from Everest balcony and bring it to Kathmandu.

After the body reached Nepal's capital city on May 30, all formalities were completed and a three-member team from Odisha will fly out with the body today.
