Bhubaneswar: Odisha Agriculture and Farmers Empowerment Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo today clarified that there will be convergence of KALIA (Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation) and PM Kisan (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) schemes.
The Minister maintained that KALIA scheme will continue.
He said that currently, disbursement of the second installment of assistance under the KALIA scheme is underway.
He added that the second installment of KALIA scheme has been disbursed to several beneficiaries and more people have been included.
The Minister, however, didn’t give any details on the modalities for the convergence of the two schemes.
It may be pointed out here that replying to a question in the recently concluded winter session of the Odisha Assembly, the Minister had said that as many as 51,05,290 beneficiaries have received the first installment of assistance after being included under the KALIA scheme.
Out of these beneficiaries 36, 34,710 are small/marginal farmers and 14, 70,580 are from landless agricultural families and they have been provided an assistance of Rs 5,000 each.
Sahoo had told the House that the first installment of assistance under the KALIA scheme was disbursed between January 2019 and May 2019 and disbursement of the second installment have begun from November.
