Bhubaneswar: Retired judge of the Orissa High Court, Raghubir Dash has been appointed as the acting Chairperson of the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC).
A notification by Law Department stated, "Odisha Governor Ganeshi Lal, exercising his powers conferred by the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, is pleased to authorise Justice Raghubir Dash, former judge of the Orissa High court, Member, Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) to act as the Chairperson of such Commission with immediate effect until appointment of a regular chairperson."
Former Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court and ex-judge of the Supreme Court, Justice D P Mohapatra, was the first chairman of OHRC from January 2003 to August 2007.
It is notable to mention here that in December last year, Dash was appointed as member of the Rights body. He was also appointed to head the probe into the Puri Srimandir Ratna Bhandar keys missing case.
