Bhawanipatna: Straight away after the girl who was gang raped near Banamalipur in Junagarh of Kalahandi district named her acquaintance as the mastermind behind the incident, police recorded her fresh testimony and arrested the accused Narendra Sabar alias Lalindra.

Reportedly, the Investigating Officer of the case recorded the statement of the girl under Section 161 of CrPC in presence of a lady Inspector. Following it Sabar was arrested and court forwarded.

While police had arrested seven persons including a juvenile in connection with the gang rape case, in a media statement on Friday, the girl had accused Sabar as the main culprit and had threatened to commit suicide if he is let free.

She reported that after completing some personal work in Bhawanipatna on September 14, she had gone to the bus stand to return to her village. It was where she met Sabar, driver of Subhadra bus, who offered her to drop her home.

As Sabar was well known to her, she accepted the offer. However, on the way he received some phone calls following which he deliberately slowed down the vehicle and stopped it near Banamalipur.

It was when six persons arrived and abducted her to the jungle and outraged her modesty. It was Sabar who first raped her and the other followed, alleged the girl. She has demanded that her perpetrators including Sabar should be awarded death sentence.
