Journalist Attacked In Bhubaneswar: Commissionerate Police Arrests Three Students

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate of Police have arrested three university students who allegedly attacked a working journalist in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The students have been identified as Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, Subrat Biswal and Ananta Samantray. Police acted on the basis of a complaint lodged by the journalist, Kapilendra Pradhan.

Kapilendra was allegedly beaten up by the trio and others at Maharaja Cinema Hall in the pre-noon hours of January 26. A delegation of senior journalists met DG Police Dr RP Sharma and demanded immediate action in this matter.

They have been booked under Sections 323, 294, 341, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. "A senior police officer has been entrusted with the investigation. The investigation will be done in a fair and impartial way," Dr Sharma said.
