Jharsuguda: A record 95 per cent of outgoing booking was done on the day one of resuming flight services, under the Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN) scheme, at the Veer Surendra Sai (VSS) Airport in Jharsuguda today.

While the first flight of Spicejet from Delhi to Jharsuguda was delayed by around 30 minutes due to some technical reasons, it was not able to deter the excitement of passengers.

CEO of Vedanta Aluminium Limited Abhijit Pati said, "Every success is always a success whether it is late or early. We are extremely proud as a citizen of Jharsuguda and as an industrial representative we feel that it is a great great achievement."

He termed it a historical day, as capital of India, Delhi, is getting connected to the financial capital of Odisha, Jharsuguda. He also averred the aerodrome has a tremendous prospect as it is covering roughly around 100 to 200 kilometres and connecting metro cities as well as international destinations.

Jharsuguda is coming up as a major city on account of the socio-economic development which is happening day by day, this will bring enormous amount of the expertise, health services, education facilities and everything together. It will perhaps be the one stop solution for the entire country, opined Pati.
