Cuttack: With eight cases of jaundice reported from Ganga Mandir area in Cuttack city recently, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) Commissioner Ananya Das has launched an awareness drive.

Das informed that halogen tablets have been distributed in the Ganga Mandir area and house to awareness through Anganwadi and Asha workers carried out. Besides, Information Education Communication (IEC) activities have been planned to create further awareness.

She further appealed the people of the city to consume clean food and water as a preventative measures against the disease.

Residents of the jaundice affected area have alleged the disease has presently gripped around 25 persons. They have attributed the cause to the lack of safe drinking water after FANI.

A person allegedly affected with the disease demanded that the State Government should establish free medical camps in the area and provide free medicines as he and many people like him are not able to bear the expenses.
