Bhubaneswar: Supporting the Bharat Bandh call by Confederation of All India Traders, Odisha traders association downed the shutters of their shops today morning and business transactions remained suspended.

Sights of shops being closed across Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Nabarangpur, Balasore, Rourkela and several other districts were noticed. The traders extended support to the nation-wide trade bandh in a bid to show solidarity with jawans martyred in the Pulwama terror attack.

Secretary of Odisha traders’ association Sudhakar Panda said on Sunday that the trade strike will be observed across the State. In a statement, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said commercial markets will remain closed and there will be no business activity. CAIT Secretary General Praveen Khandelwal said during the bandh traders would observe a day long fast and take out a tribute march in their respective states.

The association also said that the Bharat Trade Bandh across the country will be peaceful and only business establishments will remain closed. Essential items and public transport have been kept out of bandh.
