Puri/Cuttack: ‘Saheed Jawan Amar Rahe’ resonated across the State today. The hearts of Indian citizens grieved at the grave loss that occurred on Thursday night at Jammu and Kashmir when 45 CRPF jawans were martyred in a terror attack.
Members of Jagannath Sena in Puri paid tributes to the departed soul by lighting a lamp at 12th century old Srimandir. They also held placards of ‘We want answers for the sacrifice’, ‘Proud of Jawans’, ‘Terror will not be tolerated’.
As a mark of tribute, sand sculptor Sudarsan Pattnaik too shared on one of his creations stating "Tribute to brave CRPF Jawans". He wrote, “It is extremely painful to read about the attack on our brave jawans in Pulwama. My deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of our martyred soldiers.”
A pall of gloom descended on the entire State when the news of two Odia martyrs being present among the 45 CRPF jawans came to the fore. The State anxiously awaits to pay tributes to the mortal remains of Parshana Kumar Sahu and Manoj Behera.
In silver city Cuttack, school kids of Saraswati Vidya Mandir painted a map of India and colored it with Tricolor. Their eyes glistened with tears while they held candles in the hands. Paying heartfelt tributes to the jawans, the children pledged to honor the sacrifice of the brave-hearts.
PM Modi chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) at 9.15 a.m. in Delhi today regarding the incident. The attack happened even as an intelligence input had warned of its possibility 48 hours earlier. The audacious attack, the worst-ever since armed insurgency started in the state in 1989, was carried out by the JeM.
