Bhubaneswar: Following his suspension from the primary membership of National Students' Union of India (NSUI), its state-unit convenor Itish Pradhan on Monday threatened to stage a hunger strike along with 100 other student leaders from Odisha in front of the AICC office in New Delhi and hurl eggs at Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik wherever he visits.

Pradhan said that Congress is his family and he have never uttered a word against it but have targeted some individual who are involved in destroying the party. He alleged while party tickets for recent elections were given to some youth involved in ransacking the Congress Bhawan and statements of some party leaders have demeaned the party earlier, no action been taken against them.

He asserted that as a student leader he has always fought for the youth and self-respect of Odisha because of which he have been named in over 23 cases and locked up by police thrice. He questioned the grounds for suspension and also without sending any show cause notice and claimed that while he has been suspended from the NSUI he still remains a part of the Congress and will continue to fight against the persons who have links with BJD.

Pradhan stated that as per protocol, only the National President and National in-charge of NSUI have the power to suspend him. The national secretary and Odisha in-charge of NSUI can't suspend him. Pradhan also added that even the NSUI's National President is not aware about the recent development so he has not accepted it.

He informed that he will go to New Delhi to meet the High Command. Around 100 student leaders of Odisha will stage hunger strike in front of the AICC office and apprise interim president Sonia Gandhi how the party is being sacrificed in Odisha and will demand immediate dismissal of the leaders responsible for party's downfall.

Pradhan questioned the grounds on which Odisha Congress Chief Niranjan Patnaik had awarded a party ticket to his son when there were other eligible candidates in the party. He threatened to launch a protest against Patnaik and hurl eggs at him wherever he visits. Pradhan also stated that he will set up a forum 'Youth Voice Odisha' which will always stand with Congress and fight against the persons who are ruining the party.
