**Bhubaneswar:** A study conducted by the Commissionerate Police suggested that drug is the prime reason behind many crimes, including robbery cases, in twin city of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, informed Police Commissioner Satyajit Mohanty today.
Briefing mediapersons at Commissionerate Police Headquarters here, Mohanty stated that during the Third Quarter Crime meeting held in Cuttack, comprising the months July, August and September, it was found that many cases have been left pending as these are the months of festivities.
As drug was detected to be the root of most of the crimes, the Commissionerate Police has decided to focus on cases relating to drugs, excise, anti-social drive and NBW.
Mohanty said that while the Excise department and Quick Action Team (QAT) of Commissionerate Police are doing their duty in detecting such cases, it is also the responsibility of every police station to check drug peddling in their area.
He further asserted that all units of the Commissionerate Police will take it as their responsibility.
