Bhubaneswar: Duty comes before self. Odisha policemen serve with this motto ever since they take oath for service. A shining example of such principle-bound service is Dolagobinda Swain.

Swain is posted as an Assistant Sub-Inspector at Khandagiri Police station in Bhubaneswar and has always been a committed cop. His level of dedication can be summed up from an exceptional effort which he undertook in the aftermath of cyclone Fani.

Swain sustained injuries while undertaking a road clearance activity on the fateful day after the cyclone hit Odisha. A broken branch fell on his head leaving Swain unconscious. He was shifted to the hospital where he underwent treatment for one day.

But he didn't let the injury stop him from performing his duty and serve the people. From the next day he was engaged in the road clearance work, setting an example for many.
