Angul: An injection became life-threatening for a two and half year at Madhapur of Angul district after a part of the needle was removed from the minor’s private parts on Thursday morning.

A resident of Madhpur, daily labourer Sitakanta Panda reportedly brought his minor son, Swayanjit, to Madhapur Community Health Centre about a month ago as the kid was suffering from common cold and flu. As part of treatment, the staff nurse had given him an injection.

The parents allege that a part of the needle broke and stuck on the minor’s body. They accuse the nurse of knowing this and yet taking no immediate action. Swayanjit’s parents unfamiliar with this incident took him home. They allege that the child has been in constant pain all this while and his condition never improved.

On  Thursday morning, the minor’s parents noticed a part of the needle protruding from Swayanjit’s private parts.

Scared for their child's degrading health, the parents rushed Swayanjit to Madhapur hospital first but was later taken to Athamallik Hospital on doctor’s insistence.
