Indradhanush 2: Odisha Govt Ramps Up Vaccination Efforts

Bhubaneswar: To further intensify the immunization programme, Odisha Government will start the second edition of Intensified Mission Indradhanush (IMI) from five districts - Gajapati, Kandhamal, Koraput, Malkangiri and Rayagada.

Pregnant women and children will be extensively covered in all the villages, slums and urban areas of these districts under Mission Indradhanush - 2, National Health Mission Director Shalini Pandit has mentioned in a letter to the Collectors of these districts.

Health and Family Welfare Department Secretary Dr Pramod Kumar Meherda has directed the districts' administration to ensure that small children and pregnant women are covered under this programme. The Department has set a target to complete 100 percent immunisation in these five districts within the stipulated period.

The first phase of Mission Indradhanush - 2 will begin from December 2, second phase from January 6, third phase from February 3 and fourth phase from March 2.

The Department will focus on selection of beneficiaries for immunisation and providing basic facilities so that the mission is completed smoothly at the grassroots. The focus will remain on immunisation of children below two years and pregnant women.
