IMD Predicts Very Heavy Rainfall In Odisha During Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: Odisha will be experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours. The intensity of rainfall might increase as the depression over Bay of Bengal has intensified into Deep Depression, IMD Scientist Sashikant said.

While Lanjigarh experienced maximum rainfall of 382.6 mm, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Sonepur witnessed very heavy rainfall on Tuesday. The situation will remain same till Thursday, he said.

Same situation will continue to be same in South-interior Odisha on Wednesday and Thursday. "Red Warning has been issued for Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Koraput, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Bolangir, Nuapada, Boudh and Sonepur districts," the IMD said.

Orange message has been issued for: Puri, Nayagarh, Bargarh, Jagatsinghpur, Sambalpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal and Angul districts.

"Heavy rainfall will for the next 24 hours due to which Rushikulya and Bansadhara will swell. If the water rises above the danger level, flood situation is likely," Sashikant added.
