IMD Predicts Thunderstorm In Interior Odisha In Next 24 Hours

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorolgical Department has predicted that over the next 24 hours till Friday afternoon, Odisha will witness thunderstorm and light rainfall.

IMD Bhubaneswar Director HR Biswas said that the temprature will remain above normal by 2 or 3 degrees. In interior Odisha the mercury level is expected to rise upto 44 degree Celcius.

"Malkangiri, Jharsuguda, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam, Sundergarh, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Kandhamal and one or two districts in coastal Odisha will witness thunderstorm activity," he said.

The chances of heatwave are slim. But temprature will be more than 40 degrees in interior Odisha. People should avoid moving outdoors in the afternoon, said Biswas.

"In Bhubaneswar, the chances of rainfall is less but we expect thunderstorm activity in the evening hours. The temprature in the Capital City will be between 38 and 40 degrees," he added.
