IMD Predicts More Thunderstorm In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Thunderstorm accompanied with squall & lightning is likely to occur at isolated places in Odisha in the next 24 hours, predicted the India Meteorological Department on Monday.

Director of Bhubaneswar Regional Meteorological Centre H R Biswas said that thunderstorm activities will be seen tomorrow in North Odisha districts, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Kendrapara, Jharsuguda and Sambalpur.

In South Odisha it will occur in Ganjam and Kandhamal districts. Gusty winds are likely to accompany the thunderstorm in Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak and Kendrapara, he added.

Biswas also informed that while maximum temperature at Bhubaneswar is around 39 degree Celsius, which has been marked above normal (3.0°C), thunderstorm is also likely to occur in Bhubaneswar by tomorrow afternoon or evening.

While heat wave conditions are prevailing in South Coastal districts, Nayagarh, Khurda, Puri and Ganjam, temperature in other districts of North Odisha is appreciably below normal. There will be a rise in temperature gradually, he added.
