Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over districts of North Coastal Odisha and Mayurbhanj, Sonepur, Keonjhar, Bolangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Nayagarh and Puri on Monday and Tuesday.
Besides, extremenly heavy rainfall has been predicted by the Indian Meterological Department (IMD) at isolated places over the districts of Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Kalahandi districts on the same days.
IMD's special bulletin stated, "Under the influence of the cyclonic circulation over northeast and of Bengal and neighbourhood between 3.1 and 5.8 km above Pressure Area has formed over northwest Bay of Bengal Bengal-Bangladesh coasts with the associated cyclonic circulation above mean sea level tilting southwestward with height. It is marked during next 48 hours."
Interior Odisha districts such as Sundergarh, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Jharsuguda will witness heavy rainfall on Tuesday, the IMD stated. There is likelihood of flood and water logging situation in different parts of the districts due to which the Collectors have been asked to keep the administrative machinery prepared.
"Field officials should remain prepared to evacuate people from vulnerable locations to safe shelters," a advisory issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department stated. Fire Services teams and ODRAF have also been directed to remain on alert to carry out rescue and restoration operations in case of any eventuality, the advisory added.
