Bhubaneswar: A Guwahati-bound flight from Hyderabad was forced to land at Bhubaneswar airport after a passenger on board created a mid-air ruckus. The aircraft in question is Indigo flight 6E 462 which departed from Hyderabad at 4:50 am and was scheduled to land in Guwahati at 7:20 am.

However, a scene created by a 20-year-old passenger identified as Irshad Ali forced the pilots to make an emergency landing in Bhubaneswar, approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes after the plane took off. It was reported that he started yelling, standing on the seat and disobeying instructions of the crew.

Soon after the plane landed at the Biju Patnaik International Airport the passenger in question was forced out of the aircraft. The airliner's staff handed the passenger to Airport Police which shifted him to Capital Hospital for treatment. Sources said, the passenger was mentally unstable.

"Flight No 6E462 from Hyderabad to Guwahati, diverted to Bhubaneswar and landed at 6:10 am because of an unruly passenger named Irshad Ali. He is aged about 20 years. Ali has been handed over to the police. The flight took-off at 7:13 am for Guwahati," BPIA Director SC Hota said.
