Bhubaneswar: End for year 2019 is just around the corner and while the year was marred by several tragedies and controversies, it was also indelible because of several events.

OMMCOM NEWS spoke to a few dignitaries and asked them how 2019 was a memorable year for them.

We spoke to Pratap Jena, State Minister for Panchayati Raj & Drinking Water, Law, Housing & Urban Development. The five-time MLA from Mahanga in Kendrapada spoke highly of the year with his main highlight being his party BJD contesting elections. He says, “2019 was definitely memorable as our party and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik won for fifth time in a row.”

DCP (Bhubaneswar) Anup Sahoo took up his post in 2018 and has since then handled events and scenarios with utter professionalism. Speaking of the year, he said “The State Police had several important events to handle this year. From managing Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha elections in the State to visit by several VVIPs, we had a demanding and yet memorable 2019.”

Next, we spoke to Sagarika Nath, DCP (Traffic). A 2016 batch IPS officer is a known face in bringing forth community policing. Recently given the charge as DCP Traffic and when the amended Motor Vehicles Act (2019) was implemented pan-India in September this year, Nath took charge to not only strictly implement the new rules but also create awareness amongst people. She said, “After joining implementation of the MC Act was not only challenging but also very memorable.”

We sincerely hope that these dignitaries have a better year as 2020.
