Bhubaneswar: Weightlifter K Ravi Kumar asserted that the National Anti Doping Agency (NADA) panel seemed satisfied with arguments opposing the four-year ban imposed on him after failing a dope test and that he hopes to sway them into reducing it.
Speaking to OMMCOM NEWS, Kumar said, “I have kept my arguments in front of the NADA panel and they seemed satisfied with my arguments. I am fighting my case with full force and hope to sway the decision of the four-year ban. If satisfied, the panel might reduce my ban to one-third of what it is now.”
With respect to the upcoming 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, he said, “My focus was mostly on Commonwealth Championship, World Championship and SAT Games. But dope test saga has put me away from participating but has not kept me away from the sport. ”
He stressed that he will make a grand comeback with a medal at a national or international event and then only plan retirement. Meanwhile, he is continuing with training and tutoring his juniors at the state police academy.
