Hit & Run In Odisha’s Balasore: Tension Erupts After Elderly Man Dies In Accident With Police Van

Balasore: An elderly man succumbed to his injuries today after the bicycle he was riding, met with an accident with a police van in Mirigimundi area here today morning. According to the locals, the matter took an ugly turn after the police personnel fled the scene instead of helping the man and taking him to the hospital.

The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.

The incident occurred on National Highway 60, when the elderly man was en-route Rupsa from Basta. His cycle collided head-on with a speeding police van that was going from Balasore to Basta. After the clash, the elderly man sustained grievous injuries and fell down on the ground, trembling and shivering.

Locals alleged that police van did not stop to help the man and fled the scene. Without any help, the elderly man finally succumbed. Locals staged road blockade alleging that if the police personnel had helped the old man and had taken him to the doctor, then he might have survived.
