**Angul:** Three members of a highway dacoit gang which was involved in several robberies were arrested by Angul Police from Tangi area of Cuttack district today with the help of local police.
The arrested accused were identified as Jagannath Senapati, Somnath Nayak and Dillip Sah. However, two other accused identified as Kanha Swain and Bhagarathi Swain managed are still absconding.
Angul SDPO Harihar Pani informed that the gang had on October 3 attacked a container driver with a sharp weapon near Badakera of Angul district and had fled with the vehicle, which was on its way from Nagpur to Bhubaneswar.
The container owner had lodged an FIR at Angul Police Station following which police of all districts were alerted.
After getting a tip-off, a team of Angul police with the help of Tangi police raided a godown in Tangi and subsequently nabbed the three accused.
Police seized stolen goods worth Rs 37 lakh, the container and a bent bill hook knife from their possession. A bike lifter identified as Chinmaya was also nabbed during the raid and an Apache bike was seized from his possession.
