Bhubaneswar: A low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in some parts of Odisha in the next 24 hours.

Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation, a low pressure area has formed over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, the meteorological centre here said in a bulletin.

Under its impact, rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places over Odisha during next 24 hours.

The system is also likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at one or two places over north Odisha, it said, adding heavy rainfall may take place at one or two places over South Odisha during next 24 hours.

The MeT office also predicted strong gusty surface wind with speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph would prevail along and off Odisha Coast. Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
