Heavy Rain On Cards For Odisha, Says Met

Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department on Monday predicted heavy rainfall in some districts of Odisha over the next two days. According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation lies over westcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal off South Andhra Pradesh coast.

"The cyclonic circulation extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. Under the influence of above cyclonic circulation and strong monsoon current, enhanced rainfall activity very likely in some districts of north Odisha," the IMD bulletin today stated.

According to the IMD, on September 24 (Tuesday), light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north coastal Odisha and at many places over the districts of north interior Odisha and south coastal Odisha. Rest of the districts of Odisha will also experience light to moderate rainfall.

The IMD has issued Yellow Warning for Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Khurda districts where heavy rainfall has been predicted for Tuesday.

On Wednesday, light to moderate rain or thundershower is very likely to occur at most places over the districts of north Odisha & south coastal Odisha and at many places over the rest districts of Odisha. Orange warning has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Dhenkanal districts for Wednesday.

Similarly, on September 25, heavy rainfall very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Cuttack, Balasore, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda and Ganjam.

On September 25 and 26, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Nawarangpur and Baragarh, the IMD bulletin read.

Similarly, on September 26 and 27, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundargarh, Keonjhar and Gajapati districts.
