Heatwave Condition To Prevail For Next 2-3 Days, Thunderstorm Trend For Next 5 Days: Met

Bhubaneswar: While heatwave is prevailing on Odisha, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological (Met) Centre of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) today predicted that the heatwave condition likely remain for the next two-three days while thunderstorm activities are likely to remain for next five days.  

Talking to OMMCOM NEWS, Bhubaneswar Met Centre Duty Officer Laxmikant Giri said, “Yesterday’s highest temperature was 43.7 degree celcius recorded at Bhubaneswar city. Temperature was above 40 degree celcius in about 9 cities of Odisha. This activity will prevail for 2-3 days. Then temperature is likely to go down by 2-3 degrees.”

He added, “The temperature, 43.7, that was recorded yesterday at Bhubaneswar will go down today. It is likely to be around 41 degree celcius today.”

He further said, “In north Odisha, some districts are likely to experience thunderstorm activity along with gusty wind. The districts are Sundargarh, Sambalpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Kendrapada.”

Also stated, “On April 19, there is more likely of thunderstorm activity. There is especially possibility of hailstorm. Also lightning. Those districts are coastal Odisha and Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj of north Odisha. Besides, Boudh, Sonepur, Ganjam and Gajapati districts are also likely to experience the same weather condition.”

“This trend of thunderstorm activities will linger for next five days,” the weatherman predicted.
