Heat Wave To Prevail In Odisha As Temperature Soars To 44°C

Bhubaneswar: While temperature in interior parts of Odisha is soaring above 40 degree Celsius, it is likely to increase by two to three degrees in interior and coastal parts of the State after two days, said Director of Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, HR Biswas, on Tuesday.

Heat wave warning has been issued for May 17 and 18 for Bolangir, Bargarh, Sonepur, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Nuapada, he added.

Biswas further informed that thundersquall warning for next 24 hours has been issued for some districts including Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapara and Cuttack.

There are chances of thunderstorm in Bhubaneswar in the next 12 hours and the temperature will remain around 38 degree Celsius, he added.

In the last 24 hours, the highest temperature of 44 degree Celsius was recorded in both Titlagarh and Talcher followed by 42.5 at Bolangir, 42.1 at Sambalpur, 42.0 at Hirakud and Sonepur, 41.8 at Jharsuguda and Bhawanipatna, 41.4 at Malkangiri and 41.1 at Angul.
