Health Department Secretary, Officials To Visit Puri For Post Cyclone Review

Bhubaneswar: In order to review the post cyclone situation of healthcare in Puri, officials of Odisha Health and Family Welfare Department including Commissioner-cum-Secretary Pramod Kumar Meherda will be visiting various blocks of the district on Monday.

Reportedly, Meherda along with NHM Mission Director Shalini Pandit will be visiting cyclone hit Krushnaprasad block. Similarly, Managing Director of Odisha State Medical Corporation, Archana Patnaik, will be visiting Puri Sadar block.

Various other officials of the department will be deployed to Brahmagiri, Satyabadi, Kanas and Gop blocks of the district. The officials will be accompanied with a team of doctors. They will visit the field and study how the people are availing healthcare services after the cyclone.

Main emphasis of the team will be to find out if people are able to get required medicines, are pregnant women receiving required treatment, has the water being disinfected in the area and how effective was the awareness spread by the department to check epidemic outbreak.

As per reports, till date while 184 mobile medical teams have been deployed in Puri till date, 688 medical relief centres have been set up in the district.

Besides, 76 doctors and 310 paramedics from other districts have been deployed in the cyclone-hit areas of the district and while the drive to disinfect drinking water in undergoing on a war-footing basis, around 59,325 independent water sources will be ready for use from tomorrow.
