Gujarat Government Donates Rs 5 Cr To Odisha For Cyclone Aid

Bhubaneswar: Gujarat Government today extended its helping hand to Odisha Government by donating Rs 5 crore in its efforts to restore and rebuild the State here in the aftermath of extremely severe Cyclone FANI.

Being the Gujarat Chief Minister’s emissary, their Minister for Education, Technical Education, Law & Justice, Parliamentary Affairs today handed over the cheque to Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today at the State Secretariat here.

In his media reactions, Gujarat Government’s Education, Technical Education, Law, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama said, “Odisha has been affected by severe cyclone FANI and the extent of damage done. Hence, our hon’ble Chief Minister as a symbol of sympathy has donated Rs 5 crore.”

“Today I handed over the donation amount to the hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha. Our dynamic officer of Gujarat Mr Pani from Odisha, who is Commissioner of Rajkot Municipal Corporation, was also with me today on the occasion. Also our MLA Raju Bhai, who also hails from Odisha, was too present,” he informed.

The Gujarat Minister wished, “Pray God all settle down well soon. The Prime Minister has also sympathy towards this State.”

While MESCO Steel donated Rs 75 lakh today, Odisha Sachvalaya Seva Sangha donated Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.  

In her media reactions, MESCO Steel CMD Rita Singh said, “I’m extremely feeling about the cyclone because I know all here (Odisha) and I’m also here since 1992. One Super Cyclone happened in 1999 and next this one. The Government has been handling properly the aftermath. The Government machinery is working very well in this respect.”

She added, “Today I had come here to give a little donation. We have also readied helicopter and generators for pressing them into action wherever required. Whatever is possible we are doing and will do.”

On being queried about the donation amount to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, she replied, “We donated today Rs 75 lakh.”

Odisha Sachivalaya Seva Sangha General Secretary informed, “I would like to express my gratitude to our Chief Minister for evacuating the 12-13 lakhs people. Our Secretariat employees cancelled their leaves availed and have always served the Government as well as the people of Odisha.”

“In order to extend our helping hand to the people in plight, we have donated Rs 1 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund from our Sachvalaya Seva Sangha. Pray before Lord Jagannath to restore peace and prosperity among the people of Odisha.”
