Bhubaneswar: Despite its best performance, Pakistan failed to prevent Germany from securing an opening 1-0 win at the Odisha Men's Hockey World Cup 2018 in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Though Pakistan held its ground till the first two quarters of the match, the only goal scored by Germany's Marco Miltkau in the 36th minute changed the game.

Even if Pakistan tried harder for the equaliser, it missed out on golden opportunities to seal the game.

Pakistan will be facing Malaysia in its next big game on December 5 while Germany will be up against Netherlands.
