Ganjam Collector On Surprise Inspection Urges To Maintain Hygiene

Berhampur: Staying true to his words, Ganjam Collector Vijay Amruta Kulange took a tour of various areas of Chatrapur yesterday night. He also created awareness for maintaining cleanliness and to avoid usage of plastic bags.

At about 9 pm last night, Kulange with his team of officials took a bike ride from his official residence to Upper Bus stand, Main Bazaar, Rikapalli and Lower Bus stand areas. He inspected the hygiene standard by shopkeepers in the area.

Fining a stationery shop for Rs 5000 for littering, Ganjam Collector urged all shopkeepers to use dustbins and never litter. He added that will get fined a larger amount next time if basic hygienic standards are not maintained.

On previous two occasions too, the Collector with his team had inspected and fined the defaulters. On February 7, he had fined a garment shop situated in the heart of Berhampur of Rs 10, 000 for littering. Again on February 12, Kulange had cycled around Chatrapur area and not only fined shopkeepers for using plastic bags but also created awareness for maintaining cleanliness. A fine of Rs 25,500 was collected on the said day.

Kulange's efforts and dedication has been hugely appreciated by Ganjam residents who have been heaping him with praises.
