Gajapati: A twenty days orientation training titled 'UDAAN', to prepare young mass of Gajapati for entry into police and armed forces, is being conducted by the district police led by SP Sarah Sharma.

Unemployed youth between 15-22 years have been selected for the training and around 500 candidates were enrolled in the first phase of the programme which commenced from August 1 (Thursday).

They will be tutored on how to enroll in the army, paramilitary or police forces, the various eligibility criteria and best practices to land the job. The training will be provided by Havildars and Constables who are well versed with the exam pattern of Odisha Police, Navy and Army.

While the training will be free of cost, the enrolled candidates have to bear the expenses of their food and a pair of training uniform.

Though the orientation programme was started for the youth of Gajapati district, some candidates from Kandhamal and Rayagada districts were also enrolled in the programme after they expressed the interest to undergo the training.

The second phase of the twenty days orientation programme will commence from August 21 in which 500 more candidates will be enrolled.

The candidates who do not fulfill the criteria for the training will be enrolled into free Skill development and Entrepreneurship programme conducted by Rural Self Employment Institutes (RSETI) and Centurion University. Already 72 candidates have enrolled for the skill development training.
