11 January 2020

Rajgangpur: Local police today recovered bodies of four persons, a couple and their two children from a house at IT Colony here under Rajgangpur police limits.

The bodies were recovered by the police after breaking open the door of the house which was locked from inside.

Police broke open the door of the house in the presence of a magistrate after neighbours complained of foul smell emanating from the house.

The neighbours had also said in their complaint to the police that they had not seen the occupants of the house since Thursday and it was locked from inside.

Based on prima facie evidence police suspect it to be a case of mass suicide following family discord, local sources said.

According to local sources, one Ranjit Prasad (28), his wife Kalpana Prasad, their two children--3-year-old daughter Chinu and one and half-year-old son stayed at house no. B/7 in IT Colony.

Ranjit, a native of Goalpada of Kansbahal area had taken the house on rent four months back from Pramod Rout, the original owner of the house.

Ranjit who worked at the Dalmia Refractories here in the Mechanical department had a love marriage against the wishes of his parents and other family members and was staying away from his parental home at Goalpada.

The couple often quarreled with each other and had also quarreled on Thursday, local sources added.
