Bargarh: Police arrested four persons on Tuesday for posing as journalists and extorting money from the Assistant Manager of District Industries Centre (DIC), Bargarh.

As per a complaint of the Assistant Manager Manoj Kumar Satpathy, the accused persons posing as journalists of BHBC News and Tehelka India News have been blackmailing him to publish news against him.

Earlier on June 12, they took Satpathy to an ATM counter and forced him to withdraw Rs 20,000 cash at gun point. They also threatened him to keep ready another Rs 3 lakh.

However, acting on a tip-off, police nabbed them when they arrived at the office yesterday to receive the ransom.

The accused have been identified as Anuj Agrawal (35), Vishal Gambhir (43) and Imran Khan (44) of Uttar Pradesh and Tapan Kumar Sahu (57) of Khorda in Odisha.

Police have seized one Acer laptop, one IPod, four press identity cards, Rs 19,680 cash and eight mobile phones from their possession.
